At the core of each vest is a high-density PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) composite mesh layer, specially designed to lock in moisture at the molecular level while maintaining ample surface area for contact with the surrounding air.
When the vest is wet and worn by a dog, three simultaneous processes create a measurable cooling effect:
First, the water-soaked PVA layer carries away ambient heat from the dog’s skin through direct thermal contact.
Second, as airflow passes through the outer ripstop mesh layer, water molecules on the PVA surface absorb heat and transform from a liquid to a gaseous state—approximately 2260 joules of heat are carried away per gram of evaporating water.
